The Sermon
I attended a service that changed my view of my responsibility as Christian. I have heard many moving sermons in my life. I have never had a sermon that stirred my soul and at the same time made me feel very uncomfortable. The minister shared multiple examples of how those who were cured by Jesus could not refrain from telling everyone about their encounter with the Lord, even when told to be silent. His impact on their lives was overwhelming and they could not be silent.
The minister continued with a different discussion. When we experience extraordinary events, we are compelled to announce them. News such as an engagement or the birth of a child must be made public. In a even more astounding example, the minister showed how the physician who discovered a cure for polio shared its news so that mankind could benefit.
We are so quick to post our opinions and views on social media. There is the person, who after a drink, will openly give a dissertation on who should or should not be president and all the reasons. It is as if it is critical to share it for the good of everyone. Some opinions are positive and some very negative.
This minister's sermon said to me- "You, Tony have known the power of God in your life, He has comforted you, He has protected you, He has guided you. You cannot keep this joy to yourself."
So i say simply, "I am because of Him".
I pray everyone will see and share the power of His love in our broken world. We need it so very badly. There is too much anger, pain, divisiveness, and alienation.
I have written a piece that I am submitting for consideration to Catholic Digest called: "Miracles for the Common Man".
