Write the First Words
of Your True Story
of Your Life
by Tony Ford
What is the true story of your life? Do you really know? Have you ever felt as if someone was possessing your body, forcing you into the existence you are living.
We pretty much all have the capacity to lead the lives we should be leading. This is true in most cases regardless of the circumstances around us.
Let’s start with some words..
“I am meant to be…
I am meant to be what?”
“I will achieve ….
I will achieve what?’
Add these words …
and I will never look back.
“I will experience great passion….”
What is your great passion?”
Our souls and our innermost thoughts are our own. They belong to no one else. They may leave us momentarily, but they always return home to us. Some of us keep these so buried and so guarded that we only repeat these thoughts to ourselves or in too few instances to others. We wind up listening to what others say that our life stories should be.
Who are these people anyway?
What right do they have to write our story? Is it an overbearing boss, a judgmental friend, or a spouse or partner who forgot who we are?
Did we give them this right, somewhere along the way and now we follow their concept of who we are?
Sometimes we believe that circumstances dictate how we should live our lives. I say that there is a different concept. I say we can choose a way to approach a circumstance. There can be many different ways to approach a circumstance.
We are not defined by our circumstance. We are not even defined by our thoughts. We are defined by our actions resulting from our outlook of the world and who we are.
Why do we choose these paths? I say that it is either easier to do so, or we believe it will meet someone else’s view of who we are.
The more we make those choices and the less we know who we are, the farther away we become from our true life story .
In examining your life do you find that your thinking and your acts are very different?
Think of our true life as a highway. The exits are other people’s opinions of us. The exits could be also our own poor choices that don’t match our true paths.
We are driving down the highway and suddenly exit. Think of when you accidentally take a wrong exit. You are frustrated. You get anxious because you are looking for how to get back on to the highway. In some cases you get lost in a town. If it is at night you are also scared.
This is a lot like life. We get off our true path. We make bad choices.
If we are not clear on what that highway looks like and the towns we will pass, it is easy to take a wrong exit.
Start now. Don’t wait. Start writing the first words of your true story so you know what that highway looks like and avoid those wrong exits.
